TUG.com vs TUGS.net thoughts..

Post by Deleted User 122 »

I'm glad to see the refugees of TUGs with a home, whether tieupgame.com is temporary or becomes permanent. Thank you Chad (and whomever else) took this initiative.

Regardless, my vote is for only one TUG's board and for the past content to be reinstated to the best of its ability. Personally, keeping it under the tieupgames.net moniker for continuity is best. BUT I also support tieupgame.com if it's not possible to recover that URL.

I understand the moderator(s) of the board may at times go dark for a number of acceptable reasons. Therefore, can I suggest that several (three or more) people have equal access to the rights of the board in all things? Equal access to the control of the URL, the content, and the hosting server?

A thought...

We shall try to recover the old data and combine the new stuff with it.
I agree that we need to find a way to have more than one site "owner".
We shall also have to arange proper funding!

For funding the site, I have some ideas. I like the fact of keeping a gofundme site going, or something similar. But for those that want anonymity they could always send cash to one of the admins who has setup a P.O. box. Than the person running the P.O. box will put that money into their bank account, and subsequently donate said amount through the go fund me site so that is is shown to all for transparency sake.

The problem with that (in the UK at least) is that it would be subject to 20% income tax.
I there a cheaper option elesewnere?
Would be good if the funding could be in the name of more than one person. That is not supposed to be insulting to Chad or Den, (who has funded the site to date) but merely to prevent what happened last time and to be apparently more transparent. Is it possible to put more than one name on the gofundme page and to have moe than one "owner" of the site for the same reason?

I don't think its insulting. Frankly, anyone involved w/ this board and in particular the moderators I would bet are the most honorable because... lets face it. We're a niche community and running this is a labor of love, not profit.

I would trust my money would be used appropropriately to any one person... BUT.... I think its easier if several have access to the funds (appointed owners/moderators) so we don't fall victim to the real life changes that occur with an individual.

I have looked into other fundraising sites and in my opinion, gofundme is probably our best bet. It has many good security features in place for both sides, and it is somewhat free to use. I did find another site that can be an additional site to use called Brave.com. This site is a web browser in of itself and will fund sites based on how much time the user is on the site. The owner of this site would just have to become partnered with Brave.com, and more information can be found on their site. Other than those methods, I do think that if people want to anonymously donate than a P.O. Box or something similar would be the best bet for that, as It is a relatively low cost to get, and free, except for postage, for people to send and receive money.

In what way? Because in my thinking of sending money it would be done in a way that would be presented as a gift. For example in a congratulations card or similar, and therefore it would not be like paying someone for services rendered.

We have a problem over here: the rich have ways of avoiding tax, the poor do not!
Prpoerty ( and vast amounts of money) can be gifted to others (heirs, mistresses, etc) and, as long as the donor has the decency to live for another ?7? years, it is tax free as far as the donor is concerned.
On the other hand, the plumber who does work in hand at a discount to avoid paying income tax, is defrauding HMRC.
We have to be a bit careful.

Is that the same rules if say you were giving money as a gift to a friend or family member for graduating from Uni, or by finding a new job, or getting promoted?

Large gifts can be questioned.
Regular ones might attract suspicion.

A GoFundMe account that has shared access, as well as shared access to the webhost is our goal. The problem now is getting in touch with zanev, who has gone MIA. As ling as he doesn't care enough to at least give us the username and password to the webhost(and GoFundMe account), we're up the creek without an oar as far as the old site is concerned. I wish and hope zanev will come back, and soon.

If I were anyone, I wouldn't invest TOO much into this site, due to it's temporary status as of now. Just post a few short stories to keep everyone's interests peeked and hopefully zanev will come back to complete the transfer of power to me, jason, and xtc.

By the way, what you see on this site is the design I have planned, for the most part, for the original site. If you have any comments or questions, let me have em. Some things we do plan to do away with/modify:
1. Jump in the Fire - This served no one any good, and only seemed to spark drama on the site.
2. TUG Buddies - We're doing away with this one, out of concern for our underaged users.
3. TUG Pics - We're likely gonna require that all children be fully clothed, and real pictures of any kids not be sexually suggestive. We need to protect the site from being taken down due to suspected child porn.

Some of our Goals:
1. Put the focus back on stories - The old site has seemed to move away from story telling and readership. We want to build it in a way that brings this back.
2. Making Incentives for getting donations - To prevent things like this from happening again, we need to have financial support. I am going to discuss the idea of offering premium services to our members, such as access to certain "premium" stories, premium features, etc. I hate to go this direction, but in this day and age nothing can be done without money.

I hope this helps explain the situation and what we're doing to try and fix it. Thanks.

Hallo,
"premium" sound for after something expensive that can`t afford me. I would give something but could only not more than a Micro payment.

If income tax is a problem across the pond, ask Jason (who is based in the US) to handle it.

What do you think, Jason?
Could we get a joint GoFundMe page or even a joint one between you and Chad? (If you would be prepared to do so.)

I agree but it is possible for anyone to change styles through their profile.
