Number 1 Fan Competition

We often celebrate Authors on this site with regular short story contests.

Is there a possibility we could do that for Commenters in some way?

Authors could nominate those who comment on their works, possibly highlighting a particular comment they has submitted.

Then contest judges and moderators, review their latest three to five comments based on depth and quality of feedback. ‎

Not sure how workable it is.

Interesting concept but how could we make it fair across all categories? Or do we not need to bother about that?

Not sure, maybe authors nominate for stories and categorisation is based on which category story posted in.

Nomination is in the form of commenter name, story, comment.

Assessment based on content of the comment, depth of analysis, insight, etc.

Once nominations are in, they can be broken down into categories and reviewed against other comments in the category.

I don't know really, I was just throwing it out there. There is an issue with reader engagement, wondered if this is a way to incentivise reluctant commenters.

I've granted honourable mentions/personalised thank you notes to each one of my readers who've contributed 100+ comments on my main tale. There have been nine such members so far and six more currently on the brink of receiving similar mentions from me.

The concept you bring forward is interesting wolfman
But even if it never sees the light of day, nothing is stopping authors here from creating minimalistic 100 pixel high banners (ex: LONG-TIME WOLFMAN CONTRIBUTOR) and distributing said banners to readers in question.

Such initiatives wouldn't necessitate Moderator involvement.
