Looking for suggestions for gags that don’t involve stuffing like socks or ball gags? Would love something that’s effective but hate the discomfort stuffing causes

I find that wrapping duct tape around the sub's mouth and around their head works well. Not as well as with stuffing or a ballgag, but it should stay on and be firm enough to get the job done.

Sound activated shock collar is a left field option.

Nothing on or in the mouth, but you make noise t your own peril.

We use damp cloths rolled into a ball, which are always too large to become a choking issue. They do NOT go in the throat!

I've used this kind of gag before without stuffing and I can confirm that if done right, it is suprisingly effective. While I could make more noise than I could with stuffing, my speech was still reduced to standard gagtalk.

Duct tape wrapped around the head can be effective, although you'll usually be able to work it off eventually. Whether that's 30 seconds or 30 minutes depends on how tight it's wrapped and how much effort is put into working it off. As long as it's on, though, it'll keep you pretty quiet. One word of caution: it'll hurt coming off if it's stuck to any hair, which is almost impossible not to do, especially when it's wound around the head.

Duct tape gets more effective if you additionally wrap it a few times from under the chin to over the top of the head. If done right, it will male it so that the mouth can can only be opened a bit. I never could make it work that the mouth stays completely closed (chins are strong), bit when you add it to a regular wrap-around tape gag it increases the effectiveness quite a bit.

Youmight want to protect the hair, though. A beanie might work well.

An expensive choice, but highly effective and fairly comfortable:

Long pink scarf which can be wrapped around the mouth 2-3 times and tied into a knot over the mouth essentially creating a ball-gag out of a scarf

This just got bumped back to front page so I'll throw in my two cents. As people have said, wraparound tape gags with no stuff are very effective. This is partly due to the tape's stickiness but mostly because of the pressure of having it wrapped around your head makes it difficult to move your jaw. The downside is that hair can get caught in it which hurts like hell to remove.

One thing I've done is use duct tape to seal the mouth shut and then wrapped something like non-adhesive bondage tape around the head to apply the pressure. Basically the best of both worlds, though it is easier to work the bondage tape off.

jersey knit cotton which can be bought by the yard at fabric stores - cut it into long strips, call them neck scarves if anyone asks. They can be used for bindings too, especially if someone doesn't want you to use rope or tape. The "scarves" can be used as mentioned above, wrapping the stuff around and around, constricting on itself for a layered cleave-otm-otn gag. Stuff looks real nice on the face.
