I like seeing different takes on the situation. It's a morally gray area and not everyone is going to see it through conciliatory eyes like Cody does.

This choice is really a no-brainer for me. Ortiz is clearly good-aligned. It would be wrong to destroy him or his career. A visit to Sarge could open up new worlds for him. And he can return to duty a "changed" man.

I voted for checking in on Jake and Benji. While the officer will no doubt be a complication in the future, right now he's just curious. If Bastien starts looking into him too early, it will arouse his suspicion. He should wait until he sees the officer a second time. Then investigate.
