Italics, boldface, etc....disabled?

One of the things I enjoyed most about the old site was the ability to format my stories using italics and boldface type. Those features seem to be disabled in the current version of the forum. Is this the case, or have I messed up one of my settings? Advice, please! Thanks!

Currently the buttons aren't working but you can still write the code. If using a PC you can linger the mouse over each button and it will tell you the code for it, but it's [~b] [/b] for bold (without ~) and[~I] [/I] for italics
