Story Catalogue Discussion
Since there are no longer gender-assigned subsections, having a story catalogue like we did on the old board might be a good idea.
The old one amassed over 50,000 views in a year, which isn't bad considering there were only some 40+ ads.
Do the administrators, writers and readers still consider this to be a useful tool?

I don't mind bringing it back. If Jason Toddman and Xtc think its a good idea, then I will restore it.

I don't see what purpose it serves. The story categories contain lists of titles with their authors and the relevant (who ties whom by gender.)

I think it could be useful.
For example, you would have a synopsis, and some keywords on each story in the catalogue. Rather than having to read through a story to see if it appeals to you, you can just check the synopsis/keywords on the catalogue, and decide from that.

I would agree that a catalogue would be a good idea.
Perhaps having a short story synopsis in each entry similar to how fan fiction websites do it would be a good idea?
Could even have stuff like total length of story (if it's completed) and so on- so if people feel like reading something they can get an aproximate esimate of how long it will take them.

Okay, I'll restore it then.
What I will do this time is instead break up the catalog into two sections: one for "stories for everyone" and the other for "stories for adults."
So, here are the required fields
Title of Story
Gender Roles(M/M, F/F, etc.)
Status(Has the story been completed?)
Link to Topic
Synopsis
Anything else that needs to be added?

Nothing that I can see.
It might be worth adding "add your story to the catalogue" to the "READ BEFORE POSTING" post.

Suggest a word limit on the synopsis category.

Previous catalogue was perfect IMHO.
We had spent quite a while working out the details.
If I remember correctly, the MAX word count for the story synopsis was :250

Then 250 it is.
Personal opinion:
I can write an entire story in 380 words. 250 is more like a re-telling than a resume!

Xtc, very true.
If I recall correctly, most ads featured résumés in the 25-75 word range.
100 words MAX might be a little more reasonable.

Looks good.
TAGS (ex: Romance, childhood, family, bdsm, kidnapping) were also present in the previous catalogue. I think those are important.
Oh right, I thought I was forgetting something. I'll set it up tonight.bondagefreak wrote: ↑6 years agoLooks good.chadmc90 wrote: ↑6 years ago Okay, I'll restore it then.

chadmc90 Wow, that was certainly quick!
sorta off topic but why don't we have gender assigned subforums... We could easily place that within each already created subforum( Ex: Board Index < Stories for everyone < Fictional stories for everyone < m/m stories).

It was decided not to recreate the old system.
Instead, writers need to post the gender roles directly on the story title.
Ex: "Hide and Seak (mm/mf)" or "Bedroom Bondage (M/F)".
just out of curiosity any specific reason? And yes I do ask a lot of questionsbondagefreak wrote: ↑6 years agoIt was decided not to recreate the old system.

Johnsnow I do not know. But given the fact that we're starting from scratch and that there are still very few stories on the board as of now, I'm glad they're not more divided than they are now.
If we had all the same subsections that we used to have on the old Tugs.net, this place would look like a ghost town...with at the most, 3-4 topics in each section.

That's true they should consider adding some form of tag to it instead of just putting it in the title then putting a filter into the filter options so people can see all of the stories but divided by what group they are in
That's one of the reasons, anyways. The other big reason is that alot of good stories would go missed if we further divided up the sections. There are alot of people who are open about the stories they read, but may have a slight preference. For this reason and bondagefreaks reason, we decided to not further segment the stories.bondagefreak wrote: ↑6 years ago @Johnsnow I do not know. A big thanks to the staff for bringing this project to a quick completion!
Hopefully, and with a bit of encouragement and promoting, we can populate the catalogue section fairly quick.

As some of you have noticed, Chad has moved this board from TieUpGame.com over to Tugstories.com on March 17th.
Forum links leading back to the old Tugstories.com domain name are nulled and lead to an error message.
THOSE OF US WHO POSTED ADS IN THE STORY CATALOGUE SECTION BEFORE MARCH 17TH NEED TO EDIT OUR ADS AND REPLACE THE OLD STORY LINKS WITH THE NEW ONES.
