A Wins!

"Alright, let's backtrack a bit." – comes Montana's voice, much more diplomatic. – "How much money do I owe then? And to whom?"

"A month's worth in protection fees. It's your first month here, right? That'll be $3,000."

"That's ridiculous, do you think I have that kind of money to throw around?"

"Those are the rules of the game miss, I'm just the bearer of bad news, I don't make the rules."

"You're out of your mind."

Montana Leighton picks up her duffle bag and the boombox and ambles back to the locker room, but the Korean man stands blocking her path, far from convinced. Adopting a much more serious stance, sunglasses in hand, he glares into her burning eyes.

"So what will it be? Cash? A check perhaps? We don't take credit cards as of today but..."

"Stay out of my sight."

Montana shoves him aside, but the man insists, unfazed. He's heard it all before, and the situation is far from new to him. Montana, however, is acting erratically, the mere presence of the man is unsettling her and there's nobody around to aid.

"The boss also takes alternative means of payment. See, we don't like causing trouble, there's always an alternative. Those 'pitiful consequences' I mentioned before are usually the last resort."

The man is now blocking the entrance to the locker rooms, with his back to the door.

"Look man, I don't know who you are, or what the hell you want from me, but...

A. ...get the hell out of my sight or I'll call the police."

B. ...just tell me what those alternative means of payment are, and leave me be already."

B.
"Call the police" comes up twice in a row now. When I used to read choose your own adventure books, in my younger years, I would resist the one option that seemed to recur. So I'll go with B.

"B". She knows she's in the corner, and I agree with her that $3000 is ridiculous. For a startup, that might be more than her gross income let alone the pennies she's got to keep for sustaining her own life.
