I think I was 11, so Paulscot would be 4 - too young? We were playing in the back garden and I tied him to the fence by his wrists with 1 length of rope. We never used gags as kids when it was mostly Paulscot and I as he is asthmatic.

Now as an adult married to my lovely husband, we have ball gags with holes on leather straps. They are safe to wear and instantly removable in an emergency?
